Cardiff City vs. Swansea City: Preview and TV schedule

Mike Hewitt

There's a Welsh derby in Sunday's late kickoff, with Swansea heading to Cardiff as favourites.

This weekend sees the two Welsh giants, Cardiff City and Swansea City, meet in the Premier League for the first time ever. They haven't faced off at all since a Championship game back in 2011, when Cardiff won away at the Liberty Stadium -- though that didn't stop the Swans winning promotion via the playoffs later that season.

Since then Swansea have adapted to life in the top flight superbly, and, having picked up 11 points from their opening nine games this season, they've had another solid start. In contrast, Cardiff only won promotion from the second tier a few months ago, and are still finding their footing. Currently only a point outside the relegation zone, they could do with a confidence-boosting victory.

For this match, Cardiff will be without striker Andreas Cornelius with an ankle injury, though otherwise they have no early absentees. For Swansea, young full-back Ben Davies is out injured, while Jonjo Shelvey is doubtful with a hamstring problem.
