Barcelona vs. AC Milan: Lineups

Claudio Villa

AC Milan name an unusual, defensive lineup to take on Barcelona, while the hosts send out a more familiar-looking side.

AC Milan name a defensive-looking lineup as they face Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the Champions League group stage.

A rather unorthodox front pairing of Kaka and Robinho sit ahead of a midfield four of Andrea Poli, Riccardo Montolivo, Nigel de Jong and Sulley Muntari, with Urby Emanuelson unusually drafted in at left-back. Mario Balotelli is on an otherwise very weak-looking bench for the visitors, who are distinct underdogs.

Barcelona, meanwhile, opt for Adriano at left-back, but continue with a familiar-looking trio in midfield and the mouthwatering Alexis Sanchez, Lionel Messi and Neymar frontline. Javier Mascherano is deployed as a centre-back alongside Gerard Pique.

Barcelona starting lineup: Victor Valdés; Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Javier Mascherano, Adriano; Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Andres Iniesta; Alexis Sanchez, Lionel Messi, Neymar.

AC Milan starting lineup: Christian Abbiati; Ignazio Abate, Cristian Zapata, Philippe Mexes, Urby Emanuelson; Andrea Poli, Riccardo Montolivo, Nigel De Jong, Sulley Muntari; Kakà, Robinho.
