The entire MLS season comes down to one match -- MLS Cup. Sporting Kansas City will host Real Salt Lake in MLS's ultimate match with the winner taking home the Phillip Anschutz Trophy and a year of bragging rights.
Both teams are going in search of their second MLS Cup, with Sporting capturing their first back in 2000 when they were still called the Kansas City Wizards, and RSL reigning supreme in 2009. They come into the match regarded by many as the league's two best teams, too, not just a couple squads who got hot at the right time to make a playoff run.
With the number of internationals on both sides, it's not hard to see why these two teams made it to MLS Cup. Sporting features Graham Zusi and Matt Besler, both good bets to make the U.S. World Cup team, and Haiti's Peterson Joseph, while RSL has nine internationals of their own. Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando are expected to also expected to make the American World Cup side, while Alvaro Saborio should be in Brazil with Costa Rica.
The match will be broadcast live on ESPN with Adrian Healy and Taylor Twellman on the call. Max Bretos, Alexi Lalas, Kasey Keller and Alejandro Moreno will handle the pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage from Sporting Park. ESPN will also provide a stream of the match on Watch ESPN, while UniMas will have Spanish-language coverage.
