Nicolas Anelka's Juventus move confirmed

Jamie McDonald

Exciting news Juventus fans! Milan might have signed Mario Balotelli, but you've got Nicolas Anelka, with the Frenchman's move made official.

Ok, it's not anywhere near as good, and one can't help but wonder whether Juventus might as well have just kept Alessandro Del Piero on, but it's all ifs, buts and maybes now.

A statement on Juve's website made a vain attempt to pacify the confused bianconeri fans, reeling off a list of the prestigious and not so prestigious -- sorry Bolton -- teams that the former international has turned out for, before stating "Anelka has won in all countries. Now he comes to Italy to continue to do so, in the bianconera jersey."

The 34-year-old has signed until June, with an option for a further season's extension. He spent 2012 in China with Shanghai Shenua, making 22 appearances and scoring three goals.

He's not the world class name that fans of the Old Lady have been craving, but I'm sure they won't be too upset -- they have, after all, got Fernando Llorente arriving in the summer.
