Manchester United came roaring out of the locker room and put Real Madrid under immediate pressure Danny Welbeck was blocked out just enough by Fábio Coentrão as he tried to get his head on a cross from Robin Van Persie. Wayne Rooney ran down the lose ball and sent a cross back into the box that was tipped away by a fully extended Diego Lopez.
Madrid responded quickly as Cristiano Ronaldo make a ridiculously quick turn at the top oft he United box and forced a good save from David De Gea.
After that early bit of pressure, it was back to what we saw in the first half with Real Madrid camping out in the Manchester United side of the pitch, while attempting to chip away at the Red Devils' defense. Ángel Di María fizzed a ball just wide in the 53rd minute after Madrid lulled United's defense to sleep a bit and Di Maria was allowed space just outside the box to unleash a shot. No United players closed him down, but the accuracy simply wasn't there yet again.
Gonzalo Higuaín replaced Karim Benzema in the 60th minute, in case you're scoring at home.
Right after the change, Fábio Coentrão was denied at the back post by a wonderful kick save from David De Gea. Coentrão didn't get the best contact on the ball, but it still was heading in if not for the Spanish goalkeeper's quick reaction.
30 minutes left to play...United will be happy if this result stands. Real Madrid are desperate to take a lead to Old Trafford.
