Juventus vs Siena, final score 3-0: Juve ease past a toothless Siena

When Round 26 finishes, Juventus will remain at least four points clear at the top of the table, after easily seeing off relegation-dwellers Siena. The robur may have beaten Lazio 3-0 last week, but looked utterly bereft of ideas in Turin.

As expected, the majority of the match between Juventus and Siena was a rather dull affair. The first half showcased the difference in standings between the two sides, with Juve holding most of the possession, and absolutely peppering the goal until Stephan Lichtsteiner found the net in the 30th minute. Mirko Vucinic put through a great ball, Gianluca Pegolo came out to try to collect, but only managed to push it into the path of Lichtsteiner. The Swiss needed only a tap to find the opening goal.

The home side then eased off, recording just one more shot in the first half, when Paul Pogba fired directly at Pegolo. When play resumed after the half, Siena finally started to pressure the home side, although they still found it difficult to put their shots in.

Despite beating Inter Milan 3-1 a few weeks back, and Lazio 3-0 just last week, It was easy to see why the robur have yet to pull themselves out of the drop zone: imprecise passes, a lack of scoring chances, and general disconnect throughout the squad. It was only after Juve's second goal, a lovely curler from Sebastian Giovinco that Pegolo could only push into the post, that Siena managed to pull themselves together.

The visitors had a great chance just a minute after Juve doubled their lead, but Gigi Buffon managed to get a finger on the sharp header from Innocent Emeghara. Shortly thereafter, Agra, who'd provided the assist to Emeghara's shot, forced another save from Buffon. Then Christian Terlizzi rattled the woodwork after a headed pass from Nicola Belmonte, but we can assume that Agra had a hand somewhere in there, simply by his presence changing the game after he came on to replace Alessandro Rosina.

Credit to the Old Lady, though: for once, they managed to keep their heads in the match, seeking to add to their tally rather than be content with a simple victory. Pogba put in a lovely goal in the 89th minute, shaking off the Siena defenders to fire in from just outside the area. The low, sharp shot flew past a diving Pegolo to give Juve their third of the match.
