Inter vs AC Milan: Stephan El Shaarawy gives rossoneri the lead

Claudio Villa

It took twenty minutes, but the visitors have the lead in the Milan Derby. Will Inter be able to come back and grab something from this match?

Stephan El Shaarawy has opened the scoring in the Derby della Madonnina, slipping the ball under the bar in the 21st minute. Yuto Nagatomo, tasked with keeping the Little Pharaoh under control, let the Milan forward get away, enabling him to get on the end of a ball from Kevin-Prince Boateng.

While AC Milan have looked the better side for the first twenty minutes, the nerazzurri have at least looked up for the fight, with Antonio Cassano and Rodrigo Palacio both troubling the Milan defense. But Inter Milan now have to fight back and overcome the deficit, and despite looking better than they looked against Fiorentina last weekend, they've still let Milan have too many chances.

If Andrea Stramaccioni's side aren't careful, they're going to end up letting in another before the halftime whistle. Mattia De Sciglio looks absolutely dangerous, getting forward on the left, and with Nagatomo concentrating on El Shaarawy, no one's around to make sure the youngster can't get a shot in.
