Lazio lose Miroslav Klose for two months

Valerio Pennicino

Lazio striker and German international Miroslav Klose will be out of action for about two months after picking up a knee injury in Sunday's loss to Genoa.

What a start to the week for Lazio: the club have learned star striker Miroslav Klose will miss up to two months, due to a knee injury sustained in the 3-2 loss to Genoa. The German is the top scorer for the biancocelesti this season, with 10 goals in 20 appearances for the side.

The 34-year-old's importance to Vladimir Petkovic's squad should not be underestimated. Klose missed three matches due to injury in January, resulting in a 2-2 draw with lowly Palermo, a 1-1 draw with Juventus in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal, and a 1-0 loss to Chievo Verona.

Lazio's recent loss of form has caused them to drop to third in the Serie A table, six points behind Napoli and nine behind Juve. They'll be hoping for a clean bill of health for Hernanes, the side's next highest scorer, after the Brazilian sustained a head injury in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal.

Oh, and did we mention they play Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo this weekend? That should be fun for Lazio.
