Newcastle United vs. Stoke City: Preview and TV schedule

Matthew Lewis

Newcastle will look to put a little more distance between themselves and the relegation battle with a victory over Stoke City.

Newcastle will look to bounce back from their 1-0 loss against Swansea when the y face mid-table Stoke City.

It's been a tough season for Alan Pardew's team as they've dealt with a combination of injuries and poor form. While several players are still missing, Newcastle should have Papiss Cisse back after missing their Europa League draw against Anzhi with an illness. Hatem Ben Arfa also played 64 minutes in that game having recovered from a hamstring injury. Rob Elliot will remain in goal for the Magies.

Stoke should get Matthew Etherington and Michael Owen back form injuries this week but Tony Pulis will remain without Robert Huth who is serving a suspension.

Newcastle United injuries and suspensions

Out: Fabricio Coloccini, Ryan Taylor (knee), Tim Krul (ankle), Steve Harper (knee). In doubt: Papiss Cisse (illness).

Stoke City injuries and suspensions

Out: Robert Huth (suspended). In Doubt: Matthew Etherington (back), Michael Owen (thigh).

Papiss Cisse is expected to be available after getting over an illness. Robert Huth is serving the second game of a three game ban so he's out, but Stoke should have Etherington and Owen back from injury.
