Schalke vs. Galatasaray: Preview and TV Schedule

Alex Grimm

Despite Schalke getting a good result in Istanbul in the first leg, their game against Galatasaray is finely-poised, with both teams having a good opportunity to progress to the Quarter-Final stage.

Schalke will have a good opportunity to progress to the next stage when they host Galatasaray in Gelsenkirchen tonight, but will still have to be at their best to avoid disaster against a team that includes the likes of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder.

The Turkish club could not secure a victory at home as the first leg ended 1-1, but have all the players to make things difficult for Schalke, particularly with die Konigsblauen missing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to a knee injury.

Schalke are coming off the back of an impressive victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Revierderby, while Galatasaray conversely suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Genclerbirligi. Despite that, the Turkish side have more than a good chance of progressing here - as one more high-profile game in the Champions League recently revealed, a 1-1 draw in the away leg is not always a great result.

Schalke injuries and suspensions

Out: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (knee ligament), Ibrahim Afellay (thigh), Kyriakos Papadopoulos (knee), Ciprian Marica (knee), Lars Unnerstall (knee), Christoph Moritz (knee), Jermaine Jones (suspended).

Galatasaray injuries and suspensions

Out: Johan Elmander (foot), Tomas Ujfalusi (knee).

Schalke will be without key player Klaas-Jan Huntelaar after the Dutch striker picked up a knee ligament injury recently which will keep him out for some time. Kyriakos Papadopoulos will be another big injury for the German side, who is also out with a knee injury.

Galatasaray will be without Johan Elmander as the Swedish striker continues his rehabilitation with a foot problem, but with Burak Yilmaz and Didier Drogba available, it shouldn't be much concern.
