It was a wild day for English sides in the Europa League. Tottenham needed extra time, Newcastle won in the dying seconds and Chelsea engineered a two-goal comeback.
The quarterfinals of the Europa League will be set tomorrow after a great day of action to decide the eight participants. The English sides were involved in the greatest drama of the day, and all three managed to advance.
Rubin Kazan 2-0 (2-0) Levante
Valencia's other club did well enough to push Rubin to extra time, but couldn't hold on for penalties. Solomon Rondon and Vladmir Dyadyun sunk the visitors.
Zenit St. Petersburg 1-0 (1-2) FC Basel
While Zenit won on the night, they were unable to overturn their poor result at St. Jakob's Park, as the Swiss side impressively held on to advance on aggregate.
Inter Milan 4-1 (4-4) Tottenham Hotspur

Fenerbahce 1-1 (2-1) Viktoria Plzen
A bad defensive error early on led to Salih Ucan putting Fener 2-0 ahead on aggregate. Plzen pulled one back, but couldn't find the second goal they needed to go through.
Bordeaux 2-3 (2-4) Benfica
Thanks for playing, Bordeaux!
Newcastle 1-0 (1-0) Anzhi Makhachkala
A 94th minute goal by Papiss Cisse sent the Magpies through when it appeared that extra time was inevitable at St. James' Park.
Lazio 3-1 (5-1) Stuttgart
I guess crowd trouble does pay! Lazio won in front of an empty stadium.
Chelsea 3-1 (3-2) Steaua Bucharest
Steaua scored an away goal in the first half of this game after an early Chelsea goal, requiring the Blues to score twice. They managed to pull it off. Click above for a full match report.
