Second half strikes from Mirko Vucinic and Claudio Marchisio ended Bologna’s three game winning streak, as Juventus ran out 2-0 winners at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
The Rossoblu had kept two clean sheets coming into this game, while Juventus are just the fourth team to leave Bologna with maximum points so far this season. Both sides were boosted by the returns of Panagiotis Kone and after the pair missed last weekend's matches through suspension.
The visitors were given a major scare on seven minutes. Archimede Morleo's defence-splitting pass sent Alberto Gilardino clear. Buffon ran out to tackle the frontman fairly and Diamanti's follow-up deflected wide off Giorgio Chiellini.
Bologna showed no fear as they pushed forward, but Juventus were able to exploit gaps at the back. On 18 minutes, Sebastian Giovinco collected Federico Peluso's pass and after nutmegging his marker, forced Gianluca Curci into a low save. Less than a minute later, Vidal fired over from close range after a Vucinic lay-off.
Just past the half hour, Diamanti saw a screamer from distance go wide and Gyorgy Garics' crucial interception turned a dangerous Simone Padoin cross out of play. Just before half time, Padoin was at it again, but this time his inviting low cross just evaded Vucinic in the box.
There was a short delay when Diamanti went down with a facial injury after a clash with Pirlo. With the final kick of the half, Juventus went on the counter attack. Giovinco found Vucinic, who then fed Vidal. The Chilean ran into the box from a wide position and fired over.
At the start of the second half, Saphir Taider's flick from a Diamanti free kick forced Buffon into a smart save. At the other end, Giovinco spun past his marker and curled an effort just wide of the post. Bologna had the ball in the net on 51 minutes, but Gilardino's header from another Diamanti set piece was correctly ruled out for offside.
Juventus went close with two more efforts in quick succession. Marchisio got a weak shot away from the edge of the box, before Giovinco cut inside Mikael Antonsson and stung Curci's palms with a vicious strike from close range.
The Bianconeri hit the front on 62 minutes. Vucinic collected Marchisio's pass just inside the area and turned substitute Naldo all too easily before sending a low shot underneath Curci. It was the Montenegrin's seventh league goal of the season. The frontman almost made it two four minutes later, but bent Vidal's lay-off the wrong side of the post.
Vucinic had a hand in Juve's second on 74 minutes. Pirlo and Giovinco started a counter attack and Marchisio played a neat one-two with Vucinic to spring the offside trap, before the midfielder poked the ball under Curci's legs with the outside of his boot.
Diamanti sent a free kick too close to Buffon, then saw a left footed effort ricochet wide off Leonardo Bonucci, as the home side looked for a way back into the game. Davide Moscardelli tried to net a consolation, but the substitute flashed wide after a mazy dribble took him to the edge of the box.
With four minutes to play, Buffon parried an ambitious Diamanti free kick. However, there was no Bologna player ready to pounce on the follow-up and the danger was cleared. Alessandro Matri almost added a third in the dying moments, but ballooned his shot into the bleachers.
