Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

Levante gets late goal to tie Valenica, Athletic Bilbao gets a big win over Osasuna and Depor and Rayo play to a scoreless tie.

All eyes were likely on El Clasico but there were three others matches if importance in Spain today. Here's a recap of all the Saturday action in La Liga.

Deportivo La Coruña 0-0 Rayo Vallecano

Deportivo's six-match losing streak is over but a single point does little to help them in their question to escape the drop zone. Considering how the match played it, it should have been much worse and Depor may be happy with the point.

Rayo were the better side in the first half keeping Depor pinned back for a majority of the 45 minutes.

Late in the second half Depor defender Carlos Marchena was shown a second yellow card, leaving his side to finish the match with 10 men. Fortunately for the home side there wasn't enough time for Rayo to take advantage and they held on to share the points.

The result leaves Depor eight points behind Real Zaragoza and safety, while Rayo moves back up into eight place for the time being.

Osasuna 0-1 Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao got an important victory over local rivals Osasuna thanks to a second half goal from Mark Suasaeta.

In the 63rd minute, Ibai Gomez cut into the Osasuna area from the left wing and sent a cross that Susaeta volleyed past Andrés Fernández. Athletic withstood a late barrage from Osuana, getting a little luck along the way when Joseba Llorente missed a late chance, coming just inches short of connecting with a cross from Marc Bertan.

Atheltic moves back up into 14th with the win and Osasuna slips a spot to 15th, but both teams remain safely clear of the relegation zone.

Valencia 2-2 Levante

Levante grabbed a point from the Valencia Derby thanks to a last minute goal from Jose Barkero.

Levante jumped ahead in the 16th minute when Vicente Iborra made a slicing run at the near post and headed a Juanfran corner kick past Vicente Guaita. Jonas equalized for Valenica ten minutes later, hitting the ball off a Levante defender and into the goal from close range after a scramble in front of the Levante goal.

Roberto Saldado put Valencia in front three minutes into first half stoppage time, sending a volleyed shot off a cross from Sofiane Feghouli rocketing past Gustavo Munua.

But it was Levante who would have the last laugh in the 89th minute when Juanfran chipped a ball into the Valencia box that bounced in front of Barkero and over a Valenica defender who had slipped trying to make a play on the ball. Barkero went right past the defender and beat Guaita.

Valencia remain in fifth place, equal of points with Malaga who play tomorrow.
