The Netherlands didn't look like the exciting and free-flowing side fans have become accustomed to in the beginning of their game against Estonia, but played well in the second half en route to a 3-0 victory.
Estonia was excellent defensively in the first half and hardly allowed the Netherlands any chance at a goal. Their only shot on target came nine minutes into the half, on a hopeful effort from Wesley Sneijder that came from outside the box, and was saved comfortably. Estonia didn't do much going forward, but did force Kenneth Vermeer into a pair of saves at the end of the first half.
The hosts came out looking much more lively to start the second half and got on the board quickly, just two minutes after the break. Rafael van der Vaart was the scorer for the Oranje, assisted by Daryl Janmaat. The Holland right back played a great pass to van der Vaart in the box, who turned and placed a comfortable near-post finish from 10 yards.
Robin van Persie scored an insurance goal for his team later in the half, all but ensuring victory. Janmaat provided the supply again, squaring from the right side of the box for van Persie to poke home. Van Persie turned provider later in the half, setting up substitute Ruben Schaken for Holland's third. The Netherlands still have a perfect record in qualifying, and have ensured they will be in first place for another round.
