Torino vs. Palermo, Final score 0-0: Bore draw in Turin

Torino made two changes from their 4-3 defeat to Cagliari, Guillermo Rodriguez replacing the suspended Angelo Ogbonna and Matteo Brighi coming in for Alen Stevanovic. Gian Piero Gasperini made three changes from Alberto Malesani's side that drew with Genoa, Michel Morganella, Andrea Dossena and Mauro Boselli starting in place of the suspended Salvatore Aronica, Edgar Barreto and Fabrizio Miccoli.

The early stages of the match were reasonably equal with neither side showing too much attacking intent however after the first 10 minutes, Torino began to take control and really push Palermo back into their own half. The first real chance came for Torino, the lively Alessio Cerci finding Matteo Brighi on the edge of the box with a pass from the right. Brighi's pass was intended for Rolando Bianchi but the Torino captain was brought down and the ball continued to Giuseppe Vives, who blazed his shot over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

Five minutes later, Torino again had a great opportunity to score, Barreto and Rolando Bianchi combining with Bianchi fighting off three Palermo defenders to strike a fierce volley against the post.

The Granata continued to control, Palermo limited to a few probing counters, none of which came to anything. The only opportunity for the Rosanero came close to the half hour mark, when Diego Fabbrini cut in from the left hand side and unleashed a right-footed effort which Jean-Francois Gillet in the Torino net gathered easily for his only action of the half.

In the second half, Palermo seemed to offer more. The ineffectual Mauro Boselli was hauled off by Gasperini in the 49th minute for Fabrizio Miccoli and the Italian veteran's movement managed to carve out more opportunities when Palermo did get forward. The upshot of this was that Torino's first half dominance was somewhat broken but although the match was more open, clear chances were still in short supply.

Alessio Cerci cut in from the right but his drive from 18 yards flew over, whilst at the other end Santiago Garcia went on a 60 yard run out from the back to feed Miccoli on the edge of the area, his attempted chip going harmlessly over.

Torino managed to force the better chances, Cerci's right wing corner was flicked on towards the back post and substitute Danilo D'Ambrosio ghosted away from Andrea Dossena, his boot was millimetres away from getting the vital touch and giving Torino the lead.

Gasperini tried to force a result, throwing on striker Paulo Dybala for wing-back Michel Morganella however it was Torino who had the chance to steal the points at the death. Rolando Bianchi's shot was blocked but the ball fell kindly for Riccardo Meggiorini who attempted to put the ball into the near corner, Stefano Sorrentino getting down to make a fabulous save with his legs and secure a share of the points for Palermo.
