Jose Villarreal probably has a ways to go before getting called into the full national team, but it's looking more and more as if it's just a matter of time before he does. The 19-year-old California native's latest example of quality came on Saturday when he scored a stoppage-time equalizer for the LA Galaxy in their 2-2 tie with Toronto FC.
It wasn't just the timing of the goal, but the way he scored it that was so impressive. The midfielder hit a left-footed semi-bicycle kick off a poor clearance from a TFC defender that easily found the back of the net.
The goal continues a rather impressive run of success over the past six weeks that now includes a league goal, another in CONCACAF Champions League and three for the United States U-20 team during World Cup qualifying.
The Homegrown Player has mostly played as an attacking midfielder with the Galaxy but can also play as a second striker. But if he keeps scoring goals like this, the future seems exceptionally bright.
