Lesson in fan logic, as taught by Palmeiras: Lose match, attack own team in airport

Palmeiras fans got into a scuffle with the team's players and pelted them with anything they could get their hands on at the airport after a loss to Tigre in Copa Libertadores.

Copa Libertadores has always brought out the crazy in everyone involved -- the players, coaches and the fans, often in good, entertaining and mind-boggling ways. This time it was the fans' turn to go absolutely insane, but this time things turned sour.

After Palmeiras lost to Tigre in the group stage on Wednesday, dropping them to third place and out of an advancement spot for now, the fans confronted the players at the airport and pelted them with anything they could get their hands on. Forks, plates and food were all hurled at the players in a bizarre scene.

You will notice that most of the super tough fans who were first to throw things at the players chuck and run. A brave bunch, they are.

"We lost."

"There is the team. They must be punished. And if we attack them they probably won't lose next time."

"Probably not. It's for the good of the club that we act like total jackasses. And just so everyone knows we're jackasses, we'll run off afterward."

And thus ends our lesson in idiotic fan logic.
