Parma vs. Udinese, Final Score 0-3: A walk in the park for the zebras

Marco Luzzani

Udinese have sealed an easy 3-0 win away at Parma, with a brace from Luis Muriel making up for the absence of Antonio Di Natale.

If you were ever in any doubt about Roberto Donadoni's favourite animal, you need look no further than the zebra. They way he set Parma out today made it easy for the Udinese zebrette to waltz through the crociati defence and score three times without reply.

It started after 12 minutes when the Parma defence decided to jointly vacate the area where Udinese striker Luis Muriel was standing, and all go chasing the ball. Piotr Zielinski must've laughed in delight as he slid the ball through to the Colombian who was left free in the area, and who converted the chance.

Parma only had a single shot in the entire first half -- and even that wasn't on target. With a couple of minutes to go before half-time, the zebras added a second. Not even the absence of their star striker Toto Di Natale stopped them tearing the embarrassing home defence to shreds, with Roberto Pereyra squaring for a free Muriel to add his second.

The third goal would be crucial, and Amauri almost scored it in the first minute of the second half, though his shot went over the bar. Parma looked better, but continued to abandon all defensive duties, with Muriel running rings around Gabriel Paletta before squaring for Pereyra to seal the match.

The hosts made a vain attempt at getting back into the match, with Amauri and Ishak Belfodil both forcing diving stops from Željko Brkić before the final whistle. Unfortunately they still never really caused great problems, and fall below Cagliari to 11th in the table. Udinese, meanwhile, move up to eighth, with their European dreams still within reach.

Parma: Antonio Mirante; Alessandro Lucarelli, Gabriel Paletta, Fabiano Santacroce (Ishak Belfodil 52); Massimo Gobbi, Marco Marchionni, Jaime Valdés (Daniele Galloppa 76), Jonathan Biabiany (Sotiris Ninis 67), Aleandro Rosi' Nicola Sansone, Amauri
