As Jose Mourinho implored his team not to panic and simply calm down from the touchline, Dortmund continued their pressure as they hunted a second goal.
Madrid did appear to heed their manager though and started to look a bit more dangerous as the half rolled on. There was still no doubt though that Jürgen Klopp had his young side both prepared and highly motivated for the match.
One thing Madrid were definitely able to accomplish in the wake of the goal was slowing down the tempo. Dortmund were able to run wild in the opening ten minutes but as Madrid were able to wrestle away some possession, they slowed down the momentum just a bit which should benefit them if they can keep it up.
Cristiano Ronaldo generated Madrid's first real attacking moment of the game in the 24th minute, earning a free kick from 30-yards out. After his now famous stare down of the dead ball, Ronaldo launched a shot that curled over the wall and forced Roman Weidenfeller to parry the ball away. The keeper handled it well and the danger was cleared by Dortmund.
With 15 minutes left to play in the first half, Madrid are starting to get more set pieces in the Dortmund attacking third, Klopp will likely want his team to tray and avoid giving the visitors those type of chances. So far Weidenfeller has been on his game but Dortmund are definitely playing with fire just a bit.
