Stoke City vs. Norwich City: Final score 1-0, Potters win easily

Laurence Griffiths

Charlie Adam scored, Peter Crouch was hilarious and Norwich were poor in a less than impressive match.

They should have made it much easier, but Stoke City defeated Norwich City comfortably at Brittania Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Potters had numerous chances and dominated the game, but took until the second half to score while failing to completely put Norwich away late. Despite their poor finishing, they walked away with the three points anyway, winning a mostly meaningless* encounter 1-0.

The first half of the game was predictably drab and uneventful, with very few chances for either side. The closest anyone came was mid-way through the half, when Cameron Jerome hit an impressive volley towards the far post that hit Steven Nzonzi before it had a chance to hit the back of the net. Things livened up instantly after the break though, with Charlie Adam scoring the game's only goal just a minute into the second half.

It was as Stokey as Stoke goals get, with Peter Crouch rising up to nod a long ball down to Jerome to start the attack. Jerome held the ball up before passing to Adam, who finished from close range.

Crouch had a few comical misses later in the half, with the worst coming in the 63rd minute off a square ball from Jerome that was easier to tap in than miss. Stoke should have very easily scored three or four goals, but Norwich struggled to create chances in the second half, and the Potters never looked under threat of giving away points.
