Tony Pulis leaves Stoke City

Tony Pulis has left his position as manager of Stoke City after seven years at the Staffordshire club.

Tony Pulis has left Stoke City after a seven-year spell at the club.

Pulis won promotion to the Premier League with the Staffordshire outfit before keeping them in the top flight for six years, although suffered their biggest relegation scare for some time this year, with the team having made little progress of late. The Welshman's contract was due to expire at the end of the season and it appears that Potters chairman Peter Coates will not be taking the option to renew it, after there were reportedly talks between the two this morning.

Although heavily criticised for the team's direct style of play, Pulis managed to establish Stoke as a solid Premier League outfit over his tenure, and was the second longest-serving manager in the Premier League after Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes left their respective positions. It was his second spell at the club, after previously managing them between 2002 and 2005.
