Chievo Verona announced that they won't be renewing the contract of their coach Eugenio Corini for next season, despite achieving Serie A safety again. According to a statement on their website the decision was made "by consensus."
The departure comes as a surprise, with the Flying Donkeys again surviving in Serie A despite having to work with some of the most limited resources of any team in the division. Corini continued their notoriously stubborn style of play, leading the gialloblu to 12th place.
It might not be coincidental that Corini -- who made over a century of appearances as a Palermo player -- has left the Bentegodi amidst increasing speculation that there'll be a vacancy at the rosanero shortly, though it looks ever more likely that Gennaro Gattuso will be given the nod at the Palermo. If so, stand well clear.
