Antonio Floro Flores, a Marco Borriello brace and Andrea Bertolacci saw the Grifone home with their second consecutive victory. Giuseppe Sculli gave Pescara hope at 2-1 with a goal against his former club, but his strike proved to be nothing more than a scant consolation. As a result of Palermo's loss at Juventus, Genoa move three points clear from the relegation zone with three games left to play.
Pescara knew coming into the game that survival looked unlikely, as they trailed by ten points with only a possible 12 to play for.
Genoa hit the front on 19 minutes. Thomas Manfredini knocked back a free kick into the box for an umarked Floro Flores to head home. Borriello doubled the advantage on the half hour, chesting down a long ball, before spinning past his marker and sending a rocket into the far corner. Mattia Perin was rooted to his spot and given no chance in the Pescara goal.
Sculli gave the visiting fans something to cheer when he rose highest to head into the net. The striker refused to celebrate as a mark of respect for his former fans.
Borriello sealed Pescara's fate when he crashed a thunderous shot into the top corner nine minutes into the second half. The frontman also played a part in Genoa's fourth. Perin failed to clear his lines from a high ball and ended up clattering into the former Milan forward, which gave Bertolacci an empty net to fire the ball into from outside the area.
