Juventus locked up the Scudetto on Sunday, so Paul Pogba's absence won't hurt their quest for a 29th (or 31st) Serie A title, but the Old Lady will still have to play the rest of the season without the midfielder. He was shown a straight red card for spitting at Palermo defender Salvatore Aronica and has been suspended for the final three games of the season.
With Juventus leading the relegation-threatened Sicilians 1-0 late in the game, Aronica shoved Pogba in the face. Pogba, not content to merely let the referee take appropriate action, reacted by spitting and was ejected from the game.
Juventus has been eliminated from both Europe and the Coppa Italia and has just three games remaining in their season. Those games are away to Atalanta, at home against Cagliari and away to Sampdoria. Juventus manager Antonio Conte probably would have liked to give the 20-year-old some starts to close the season while resting some of his more veteran players, but his season has ended prematurely.
