Reports out of Germany suggest Bayern Munich striker Mario Gómez is on his way to Napoli. On Sunday evening, Bild released a story stating that Gómez's departure is "imminent", and that his agent has been in negotiations with the partenopei for weeks.
On Saturday, Gómez scored a brace in the 3-2 win over his former club Stuttgart, helping Bayern secure the German Cup and, as a result, become the first German club to win the Treble. The German SuperMario has been at Bayern since 2009 and has recorded 113 goals in 174 appearances (according to Bild, anyway). Despite the numbers, Gómez spent much of the past season on the bench, thanks to an ankle injury giving Mario Mandžukić the chance to secure the starting spot.
Now, with Pep Guardiola set to take over at Bayern, it's looking even less likely that Gómez will be able to win back a starting role. And with Napoli trying to figure out what life without Edinson Cavani might look like, it makes perfect sense that the two just might hook up.
