The United States face the first of three qualifiers that could give them the chance to secure their footing a bit and put one foot into next summer's World Cup.
First up is a trip to Jamaica and the always difficult environment of Independence Park in Kingston. The last time these two teams met in Kingston -- in the previous round of qualifying -- the Reggae Boyz pulled off a 2-1 upset of the US with goals from Rodolph Austin and Luton Shelton.
The USA are coming off a mixed bag of results from their last two friendlies with a bad loss against Belgium and a solid win over Germany. Jamaica sit last in the CONCACAF hexagonal and are coming off a frustrating 1-0 home qualifying loss against Mexico.

Gomez is a major doubt for the US as he continues to recover from a knee problem. Fabian Johnson was subbed out of the US win over Germany as a precaution and his injured hamstring is expected to be alright for the game.
