During today's unveiling of AS Roma's kit for the upcoming season, captain Francesco Totti stated: "I've worn many Roma shirts, but this is the last." 20 years after making his professional debut, it seems that his Roma career is finally coming to a close.
Whether Totti -- who has famously spent his entire career at Roma -- plans on moving to another club or retiring altogether remains to be seen, though there's no doubt he'll leave a huge hole to be filled at the Olimpico. The 36-year-old has made over 500 career league appearances -- all for the giallorossi -- and is Serie A's second-highest goalscorer of all time.
Despite his age, the announcement comes as something of a surprise, given that last season Totti enjoyed a consistently brilliant campaign. Reinvigorated by the return of Zdeněk Zeman to the Roma bench, Totti was one of the club's star performers, finishing the season with 12 league goals in total.
