Napoli's capture of José Callejón was confirmed on Twitter by the partenopei, after reports that Real Madrid accepted a €10 million offer for the attacker. The 26-year-old made 55 league appearances for the Merengues over the last couple of seasons, though never managed to establish himself in the starting eleven.
However, his move to Italy will be with the hope of doing just that. With new Napoli coach Rafael Benítez set to move his team from the back three they've used over the past few seasons to a 4-2-3-1, he's looked to rectify Napoli's shortage of high-quality wingers this summer.
Callejón -- who is most comfortable with a spot out on the right wing -- joins days after Napoli announced the signing of PSV Eindhoven's left-winger Dries Mertens, with Benítez's primary transfer aim successfully completed and Napoli's new starting eleven taking shape.
