The United States have utilized one of their new call-ins while leaving two of them on the bench. Matt Besler, who replaced Oguchi Onyewu for the knockout stages of the Gold Cup, will start alongside Clarence Goodson in the center of defense. Nick Rimando takes his starting goalkeeper place back from Sean Johnson. After rotating his midfield extensively over the last four games, Jurgen Klinsmann has opted to go to with Kyle Beckerman and Mikkel Diskerud in the center. Jose Torres will start on the left wing ahead of Brek Shea.
