As expected, Clint Dempsey is in the starting lineup for the Seattle Sounders and will make his first start at home against the Portland Timbers on Sunday. The Timbers are without their two first choice starting central midfielders and have been forced to improvise. Rodney Wallace appears to be starting in the center of midfield, where he's made some sporadic appearances. Normally, Wallace plays as a winger. He'll be partnered by veteran Jack Jewsbury. With Wallace dropping into midfield, Kalif Alhassan will start out wide.
Timbers lineup (4-2-3-1): Donovan Ricketts; Alvas Powell, Pa Modou Kah, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Michael Harrington; Jack Jewsbury, Rodney Wallace; Kalif Alhassan, Diego Valeri, Darlington Nagbe; Eddie Johnson
