La Liga 2013: Villarreal and Real Valladolid get wins, Celta and Granada draw

The Yellow Submarine moved atop the league, for now, with their third straight win to open the season. Real Valladolid got their first win while Celta Vigo squandered a lead and drew with Granada.

Villarreal kept their perfect start to the season rolling with a thorough defeat of Osasuna, while Real Valladolid won their first match.

Here's a recap of Saturday's games in Spain.

Celta Vigo 1-1 Granada

Celta Vigo were forced to settle for a point despite a dominating performance against Granada.

Rafinha Alcantara put Celta ahead in the 29th minute after some sustained high pressure forced an error by Granada in their own area. Rafinha pounced on the loose ball and put the ball in the empty net.

Celta couldn't find another goal though, hitting the woodwork on a couple occasions and Granada made them pay in the 60th minute when Piti stormed into the area from the right and beat Yoel Rodriguez.

Celta remain undefeated in the new season but it's the second match in which they've squandered a lead and had to settle for a draw.

Real Valladolid 1-0 Getafe

Valladolid earned their first win of the season thanks to a second half header from Marc Valiente. The win moves them well up the table and sinks Getafe to the edge of the drop zone at this early point of the year.

It was just two minutes after the break when Valladolid struck on a corner kick. Omar Ramos delivery from the left found Carlos Pena who headed the ball down to Valiente for a close range finish.

Osasuna 0-3 Villarreal

Osasuna's horrible start to the season continued with a thorough defeat at the hands of promoted Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine will be pleased with not only their third straight win to start the year, but also with the fact they didn't have to overcome an early deficit to win.

Osasuna started well enough but in the 22nd minute Jonathan Pereira's cross curled in perfectly to Jérémy Perbet for an easy close range finish. Eight minutes later Villarreal doubled their advantage when Javier Aquino curled a low shot past Andrés Fernández.

Ikechukwu Uche put the match completely out of reach in the 75th minute, finish off a cross from Giovani Dos Santos.

The Yellow Submarine now sit atop the table pending the rest of the week's results while Osasuna sit winless at the bottom of the table.
