AS Roma have continued their string of summer signings with the capture of Gervinho from Arsenal, with the Ivorian reportedly setting the giallorossi back around €8 million. He is Roma's fifth major arrival of the summer, as their reshaping under new coach Rudi Garcia continues.
Gervinho is a player Garcia knows well, with the duo winning the French title at Lille just before the winger moved to Arsenal. In that successful campaign Gervinho was generally deployed on the right of an attacking trio, though with Erik Lamela having dominated in that position in Serie A over the last couple of seasons, Gervinho could find himself as a more direct, pacy alternative to Francesco Totti on the left.
The Ivorian arrives after two years at the Emirates, having joined Arsenal from Lille for €12 million in the summer of 2011. He made 28 Premier League appearances after first arriving, though injury and poor performances meant he was relegated to 18 games -- and just 12 starts -- last season.
