If you'll forgive the wrestling analogy, the La Liga title race has turned into an epic triple threat cage match that promises to be talked about for years. After Round 20 we've reached the point in the match where to two wrestlers who've been dominating the action are down after a particularly dramatic spot and the forgotten third wrestler is back on their feet and looking to take advantage.
Real Madrid, thanks to a big win over Real Betis, have gone from the verge of dropping out of the title race to just a point behind leaders Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Two straight weeks with draws by the leaders, including a simultaneous double clothesline in Round 19, have allowed Madrid to nearly erase a five point gap.
Madrid put the pressure on the leaders Saturday, easily dispatching Real Betis and costing Juan Caros Garrido his job. Barcelona were the first to take it on the chin this round, behind held 1-1 by Levante thanks in large part to a tremendous performance from goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Atléti then failed to take advantage, drawing 1-1 with Sevilla and allowing Barca to main first for another round.
Speaking of Betis, their 13th lost of the season keeps them stuck at the bottom of the league, eight points from safety.
What will happen next week?! Tune in and find out!
