The Emirates Stadium is a £470 million bastion to modern football. It is symmetrical, sterile and pretty much like any other place built after 2000 -- it exists to make lots and lots of money, which is does very well. Aside from being an ATM, the Emirates is only notable for three things:
1. It is home to Arsenal.
2. It is big.
3. It is expensive.
Not on that list: it has working lights.
Some of the floodlights went out in the middle of their FA Cup match against Coventry, forcing the fans, who already pay for the most expensive ticket in English club football, to light up the pitch with their phones. I hope they all have iPhone 5's because the battery on the iPhone 4 sucks.
Some lights have gone out at the emirates. Emergency back up from thousands of camera phones. pic.twitter.com/niab4wqxLL— Amy Lawrence (@amylawrence71) January 24, 2014
