Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed on a transfer fee for midfielder Yohan Cabaye. The Frenchman will fly to Paris for a medical on Tuesday and, assuming all goes well, will join the Ligue 1 side for £19m.
Cabaye, who joined Newcastle in summer 2011, refused to play earlier in the season after a transfer to Arsenal had been rejected, but has since been an essential component in the side. The Magpies are currently eighth in the Premier League table, just a point below Manchester United.
Cabaye's contributions in central midfield go beyond the seven goals and three assists he's scored in the league. PSG, currently first in France, are getting a player with an eye for a pass, whose through balls are able to build up play and set up attacks. While he may not slot directly into the starting XI, he'll be a strong asset to a side both chasing a title and still in Champions League play.
