Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed the club have signed defender Faouzi Ghoulam from French side Saint-Étienne. De Laurentiis tweeted:
Benvenuto Faouzi! Sono certo che darai un grande contributo in una squadra che è già molto forte #ADL— AurelioDeLaurentiis (@ADeLaurentiis) January 31, 2014
As every Napoli fan knows, a deal isn't a deal until it's been announced and hashtagged #ADL. But, in case that's not enough official confirmation, Napoli have made it official on their website.
Ghoulam has spent the majority of his career at Saint-Étienne, coming through the youth system and playing with the senior side for the past few years. He now moves to Napoli on a four year deal, thought to be worth around €5m.
The 22-year-old left-back fills a gaping hole for Napoli, who, thanks to injury to Camilo Zúñiga, have had their weak left side exploited again and again. With Ghoulam in, that also frees up Pablo Armero to go to West Ham, where he's headed on loan for the rest of the season.
