Former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes finally has a new job, and he's landed pretty well. La Liga side Real Sociedad have just appointed him as their new manager on a contract that runs through the end of the 2015-16 season.
La Real announced Moyes' hiring on their website. They offered little in the way of details about his arrival and had no quotes from the man himself, and instead opted to give a history of his career to their fans who might not be so familiar with the Scot.
This is Moyes' first job since he was sacked by Manchester United in April. Before taking over at Old Trafford following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, Moyes had spent a decade at Everton.
Despite holding onto the core of a team that played in Champions League last season and finished 7th last season while balancing European football with La Liga, Real Sociedad sit in 15th place this season. While managerless, they pulled off an upset victory over Atlético Madrid this weekend.
Antoine Griezmann isn't at La Real anymore, but stars like Carlos Vela, Rubén Pardo, Sergio Canales, Iñigo Martínez and long-time captain Xabi Prieto are still with the team. Moyes has plenty to work with, and will be expected to guide this team back into the top half.
