Pele has been transferred to a "special care" unit, according to the Brazilian hospital that he is currently at. The 74-year-old was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with a urinary tract infection and was moved on Thursday.
The hospital's press office was clear in stating that Pele was not in an intensive care unit. Several outlets were reporting that he was in the ICU, but the hospital refuted those claims.
Pele's medical problems began 15 days ago when he underwent surgery to remove kidney stones. He was later released and said to be recovering, but in good health, however that changed when he returned to the hospital yesterday. The urinary tract infection was not believed to be serious and he was being treated with antibiotics.
Update:
Pele's aide tells @AP that his health isn't deteriorating & was moved to "calmer area" of hospital as he was receiving too many visitors
