Atletico Madrid vs. Real Sociedad: Preview and TV schedule

Atléti's stingy defense faces off against La Real's explosive offense

Atlético Madrid have continued their strong form from the first half of the season remaining right on Barcelona's tail in the title race and qualifying for the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. Before they can concern themselves with that competition in the midweek, they must face a tricky Real Sociedad side looking to fight back into the battle for fourth place.

Diego Simeone's side bounced back from two straight league draws with a solid win last round over Rayo Vallecano but the more important moment might have come in the midweek against Athletic Bilbao. After failing to score a goal for nearly an entire month, Diego Costa finally returned to the score sheet which could be a huge boost for Atléti who were clearly missing the production of their leading scorer.

Real Sociedad bolstered their roster at the close of the transfer window with the addition of Sergio Canales from Valencia. He adds another attacking threat to an already dangerous team who will have to find a way to solve one of La Liga's toughest defenses.

The two teams played a close game in their first meeting of the season with Atléti coming out on top with a 2-1 win.
