Newly-promoted Sassuolo spent big in January; though despite their reinforcements, they've slumped to nine defeats in their last ten matches. The Emilians are now rock bottom of the Serie A table, and will likely bring back former coach Eusebio Di Francesco in place of Alberto Malesani if they lose to Lazio on Sunday -- less than a month after he was sacked.
However, winning the game certainly isn't an impossibility. Edy Reja hasn't been able to stop Lazio's characteristic inconsistency, with the aquile going down 3-1 to relegation strugglers Catania last weekend. When these sides met at the Mapei Stadium earlier in the season, Sassuolo came from two goals down to salvage a point. With the attacking talent they have in their ranks, it shouldn't be routine for the hosts.
Lazio will be without Emiliano Alfaro, Bruno Pereirinha, Hélder Postiga and Ederson through injury, while Sassuolo have Emanuele Terranova, Marius Alexe, Francesco Acerbi, Gaetano Masucci and Thomas Manfredini all sidelined. It's the neroverdi who have the bigger injury problems, as Reja has all of his key first teamers available for selection.
