Liverpool vs. Arsenal: Preview and TV schedule

Laurence Griffiths

The Premier League weekend starts with a bang, as Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield.

Arsenal continue to defy expectations and sit top of the Premier League table in February, a couple of points above Manchester City and Chelsea. They haven't yet capitulated in painfully predictable fashion, like their opponents on Saturday, Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers' side have fallen right off the pace after a good start, and are now a pretty big eight points off the top of their table. Having had as disappointing a January as the Gunners, it's likely the best they can hope for now is a top four finish.

However, a win on the weekend could bring them back into the reckoning, and they'll be looking to capitalise on a midfield crisis which will potentially see winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain start in the centre of midfield for Arsenal. The Gunners are without Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey and Kim Källström, while Jack Wilshere faces a late fitness test.

Liverpool also have a string of regulars unavailable, though with the on-form Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge set to start in attack once again, they'll be hopeful of exploiting a weakened Arsenal. A defeat would probably all but end their slim title hopes.
