AS Roma vs. Inter Milan: Preview and TV schedule

Claudio Villa

Roma are just about in touching distance of league leaders Juventus, and need to beat Inter on Saturday if they're to maintain the gap.

In all likelihood, Juventus are going to run away with their third consecutive Serie A title this season. Second-placed AS Roma are nine points in arrears, and even if they win their game in hand against Parma, it's hard to see them shutting the Old Lady down. Should they give away more points this weekend, we may as well hand Juventus the scudetto now.

However, with the gap as it is, there's still a tiny chance of a giallorossi miracle. They just need their run-in to be absolutely perfect. That means they really need to beat Inter Milan at the Olimpico on Saturday, with Walter Mazzarri's side languishing down in fifth place. However, that doesn't mean Rudi Garcia's team should be complacent -- the nerazzurri did manage to cause a shock away at Fiorentina a few weeks ago, and still have players capable of doing damage.

Roma will be without captain Francesco Totti, as well as having something of a full-back crisis as present. Both left-backs Dodô and Federico Balzaretti missed out last week, and will do so again here. Young defender Alessio Romagnoli coped perfectly well filling in against Bologna, though Inter should prove to be a much tougher test. Right-back Maicon is also unavailable, with Vasilis Torosidis almost certain to start on the other side of defence.

Inter only have one absentee, with Mazzarri's favourite defender Hugo Campagnaro still on the treatment table. There are question marks over the fitness of Hernanes, but he should be available.
