UEFA Champions League 2014, Atletico Madrid vs. AC Milan: Rossoneri blown apart

No one gave AC Milan much of a chance to pull off a comeback against Atletico Madrid. They were even more poor than expected, conceding four times.

Atléti advance past Milan in convincing fashion

Los Colchoneros advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals, finishing off AC Milan on Tuesday and earning a 5-1 aggregate victory.

Garcia finishes off Milan

AC Milan are finally dead and buried. Raul Garcia did the deed, heading in a set piece to put Atletico Madrid ahead of their adversaries 3-1 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate. It was surprising to see Milan score at all in the first place, and they've got little to no chance of scoring three times in the next 20 minutes.

Physical headers can be gorgeous, if you're into that kind of thing. There's some excellent effort in this goal.

And with that, we'll see Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals.

AC Milan are in some trouble after this.

Kaka brings Milan back within one

Well, perhaps we were too hasty to write off AC Milan? They've been struggling against Atletico Madrid and looked like conceding a third before scoring themselves, but they've fought back through Kaka, who has pulled the rossoneri back within one goal in the 27th minute of the second leg.

Strangely, he scored with his head. Yes, Kaka scored a header. He's been mostly a wide forward since coming back to Milan.

The cross, delivered by Andrea Poli, was an excellent one. Now Milan, who were looking dead in the water, will be going through with one more goal.

Diego Costa scores again

AC Milan were big underdogs going into Tuesday night's match against Atletico Madrid, but their task just got even harder. Just three minutes into the second leg, the same man who scored an away goal at the San Siro has found the back of the net at home, in Madrid.

Diego Costa, take it away.

Milan have some solid attacking players, but it's tough to see them racking up huge goal numbers based on what they've done this season. They now have to score twice against a very good defensive team. Good luck!

Atlético Madrid vs. AC Milan: Lineups

Neither head coach has tinkered much with their lineups with both teams making just a single change from the first leg.

Atléti at home with a lead against Milan

After a 1-0 first leg win, Atléti just need to finish the job against Milan to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Atleti's forwards devour everything

AC Milan has a young manager with a lot of potential and some talented players. It also has some old and/or unathletic players. Diego Simeone and his pack of rabid dogs are here to rip them apart.
