Paris Saint-Germain vs. Bayer Leverkusen: Preview and TV schedule

Alex Grimm

Having lost the first leg 4-0, Bayer Leverkusen are just hoping to avoid further embarrassment.

Bayer Leverkusen's hopes of progressing to the Champions League quarterfinals have already been well and truly dashed, with Sami Hyypiä's side going down 4-0 at home to a thoroughly impressive Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg. They must be shaking in their boots at the prospect of Wednesday's trip to Paris, where they just hope to avoid a hammering again.

Laurent Blanc's side is eight points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, and have shown themselves to be serious contenders in this year's Champions League. It has taken a while for their Arabian riches to be converted into a cohesive unit, but the Frenchman appears to have managed it. And now they're a genuine force.

Making matters worse for Bayer is PSG heading into this game with no injury problems whatsoever. In contrast, the Germans will be without both Robbie Kruse and Jens Hegeler through injury, as well as the suspended Emir Spahić. They do, however, hope to have midfielder Lars Bender back from a calf injury in time. Given his importance in anchoring the midfield, that could be crucial in preventing further embarrassment.

Paris Saint-Germain injuries and suspensions

Out: Marco Verratti, Gregory van der Wiel, Blaise Matuidi, Jérémy Menez (rested). In doubt: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (back).

Bayer Leverkusen injuries and suspensions
