MLS scores: Toronto and Columbus stay perfect, Portland still winless

Toronto FC's millions are paying far.

It's still early, but Toronto are living up to expectations. The talent is there, the crowds have shown up and the wins have followed. Amazingly, the same is true of Columbus, but things have started sour for Portland, who are still winless.

New England Revolution 0-0 Vancouver Whitecaps

The Revs dominated at home and should have come away with three points, but instead they just extended their scoreless streak to 270 minutes this season. New England's struggles were a team effort as several players wasted chances, but Teal Bunbury was the biggest culprit, wasting two golden chances as the Whitecaps were able to snag a point away.

Real Salt Lake 1-1 LA Galaxy

Two weeks ago, RSL and the Galaxy opened up the season in Los Angeles, where the visitors came away with a win, but in the rematch there would not be a repeat or revenge. The teams had to split the points after Alvaro Saborio found himself completely unmarked on a free kick to put RSL in front, only for Robbie Keane to answer with his first goal of the season.

Toronto FC 1-0 D.C. United

Jermain Defoe is having no problem with MLS, scoring his third goal in two matches to lead TFC to their second win in as many matches. BMO Field was full again to see their high priced acquisitions for the first time and they got a show, with Defoe scoring off passes from Michael Bradley and Gilberto as the three Designated Players delivered the home side three points.

Columbus Crew 2-1 Philadelphia Union

The Crew scored twice in the first half to put them well on their way to victory, but they had to hang on for dear life in the second half. Benrardo Anor scored each of Columbus' goals, but Leonardo Fernandes pulled the Union within one to make things tight before the Crew held off the Philadelphia pressure to claim the win.

Colorado Rapids 2-0 Portland Timbers

The Timbers' shaky start to the season continued on Saturday in Colorado, where the Rapids rode two second half penalties to a win. Donovan Ricketts's challenge on Deshorn Brown earned himself a red card and Vicente Sanchez made the penalty to put the Rapids in front before Brown converted a penalty late on to seal the win as the Timbers' hunt for their first win of the season continues.

Sporting Kansas City 1-0 San Jose Earthquakes

There may still be concerns about Sporting's ability to score as they tallied just one goal again and struggled to create chances, but a win is a win. Dom Dwyer netted the only goal of the match and SKC held off the Goonies despite resting Matt Besler to wrap up three points.

FC Dallas 3-1 Chivas USA

The matchup of surprising starters went to Dallas as they claimed three points at home. Fabian Castillo put FCD up in the 71st minute and Je-Vaughn Watson doubled their lead seven minutes later. Cubo Torres got Chivas back into the match in the 81st minute, but Michel put the match to bed with an 86th minute tally to keep Dallas undefeated on the season.
