Following last week's announcement of the adidas Primeknit boot, the sportswear giant have decided to take the idea of knit football boots a step further, with the Primeknit FS. The cleat offers a striking new shape that may well change how boot design is approached in the very near future. Where most boots cut off at the ankle, the adidas Primeknit FS continues north and for quite some distance.
That's right, the Primeknit FS is a knit sock/boot hybrid that goes all the way from the wearer's toe to calf, aiming to provide the perfect fit from start to finish. The boot is a single-piece design, comprised of lightweight but strong yarn that adidas say will provide unprecedented levels of comfort and stability with the strength of the market's current offerings. Like the Primeknit, the yarn that makes up the FS are coated to provide water resistance.
adidas say that while the Primeknit FS is just a concept at the moment, the company is working with a number of its top athletes to finalize and debut the boot in a competition setting later this year. This is a story to keep an eye on and it will be interesting to see adidas' final take on the knit boot market with the competition really heating up.
