Darwin Quintero stood over a free kick from 25 yards out. He had a horrible angle at goal so having a go was out of the question, but he could put in a great cross. He was thinking great cross. He was thinking great cross. He. Was. Thinking. Great. Cross.
Except he was actually thinking, "I can put the ball in that top corner."
Imagine if you were standing next to him when he thought about shooting that. He'd tell you what he was thinking and you'd tell him he was an idiot. Still, he believed so you told him he was a giant idiot. And yet he kept believing.
He was right.
