Real Madrid fans will be sweating bullets for a while, waiting for a status update on star forward Cristiano Ronaldo. He limped off in the second half of Tuesday's Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, with Casemiro replacing him in the 79th minute.
The good news is that Ronaldo was able to walk off under his own power, so it seems very unlikely that his injury is serious. But Ronaldo and the trainers that examined him determined that he was hurt enough that he should exit the game, at least as a precaution. It wasn't obvious what exactly he injured, but he appeared to have a lower body injury.
If Ronaldo has to miss any time, Madrid don't exactly have the depth to replace him like-for-like. They would have been just fine a few months ago, but Jese recently tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Alvaro Morata hasn't played out wide much, while Angel Di Maria -- who is currently injured himself -- has been converted to a central role.
