Southampton vs. Everton: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

Paul Thomas

Everton will look to keep the pressure on Arsenal in the final Champions League spot with a win over Southampton.

Everton's surprise slipup against Crystal Palace a couple of games ago could prove costly, as it has enabled Arsenal to sneak back above them into the fourth and final Champions League place. However, the Gunners' lead is just a point, and they'd provisionally drop to fifth should Everton pick up a point or three away at Southampton in Saturday's early kickoff.

The Toffees will be looking to capitalise on Southampton's recent poor form, with Mauricio Pochettino's outfit having won just one of their last five Premier League matches. They're still up in eighth place in the table, but could find life difficult against Roberto Martínez's on-form outfit. Everton won the reverse fixture at Goodison Park 2-1, courtesy of goals from Séamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku.

This time, Southampton will be without the injured Maya Yoshida, Gastón Ramírez, Kelvin Davis and Jay Rodriguez, though their list of absentees isn't quite as troublesome as their visitors'. Everton will be without Lacina Traoré, Darron Gibson, Arouna Koné, Bryan Oviedo, Steven Pienaar, Kevin Mirallas and Bryan Oviedo, though Phil Jagielka could return from a hamstring injury in time to play.
