Atlético Madrid remain in control of the title destiny, needing just three more wins to secure their first league title since 1991. They can cut that magic number to two with a win on Sunday over Valencia, but it won't be easy. Valencia have only lost once in their last eight home matches -- a 3-1 loss against Getafe -- and are still chasing a Europa League place.
Both teams will have to deal with fatigue thanks to busy schedules. Atléti played the first leg of their Champions League semifinal against Chelsea on Tuesday, while Valencia were in action on Thursday against Sevilla in the Europa League. Those two extra days of rest could prove vital for Atléti.
Diego Simeone's only injury concern is Arda Turan, who is still recovering match fitness in the wake of a groin injury. Otherwise, he'll have his full roster available. Gabi is guaranteed to play, since he'll be unavailable against Chelsea in the mid-week as he servs a card accumulation suspension.
Valencia injuries and suspensions
Out: Diego Alves (hamstring), Ricardo Costa (ankle), Victor Ruiz (thigh). In Doubt: Philippe Senderos (knock)
Atlético Madrid injuries and suspensions
In Doubt: Arda Turan (groin).
Turan returned as a substitute in Atléti's Champinos League match on Tuesday, but it's likely that Simeone will want to limit his minutes to ensure no setbacks with his groin.
